Jumping rope folk painting is a salvaged wood painting of girls jumping rope.
A Greek folk art paitning on a found, salvaged piece of wood from old, discarded furniture.
It is an art brute style painting by a very talented Greek lady, who loves folk and retro themes and picks her pieces of wood very meticulously. She cleans and then paints them with acrylic paint and finally some varnish for a longer wear of the colours.
When the piece is made to order the piece of wood is always different.
This one here shows that it comes from some sort of cupboard, since it still carries a part of a metal hinge on its lower left side.
The theme is a lovely picture of three girls jumpingrope in a meadow with flowers and some mountains as a backdrop. The girls are dressed in old fashioned, brightly coloured clohtes and all have bows on their hair. The middle one has some lovely ponytails and is wearing a bright red dress.
There are some birds and some clouds in the sky, as well as a red sun.
The' frame' is an outline the painter has painted on the piece of wood in scarlet, of about 1.5 cm in width ( 0.59 '' ).
At the back the wood is painted black and there is a piece of wire from which to hang the painting.
This folk art painting measures about 12 cm in height x 25 cm in length ( 4.72 '' x 9.84 '' ).
It is very light.
