This folk art painting is a long piece of salvaged wood, that the artist has cleaned and varnished for maintenance and then painted on. The painting is divided in four parts, one season each. All different parts feature children in different actions, depending on the season.
The first season in the series is spring, where a boy of old is flying a kite in a geen meadow and fair weather. He is wearing dark shorts and a white t-shirt with long sleeves, black shoes and knee high socks. There is a red sun in the sky, behind him and a bird silhouette also.
The second season, summer, features a boy in a boat, dressed in an old fashioned, nautical outfit.He is holding a watermelon slice and seems to be too big for his small, white boat with a sail.The sea is dark blue with tiny waves.There is a brown fish in the sea in front of the boat's prow.The sky is a faded, amber/orange as in a sunset.The sun in red at the top, left part.a white birs silhouette is on the other side, also high in the sky.
The third season, autumn, is depicted with a tree, shedding its leaves and a little girl holding huge bunches of grapes in each hand.The falling leaves are in red and orange colours and the tree branches look bare already.The girl is standing on brown soil, sewn with orange seeds.She is wearing her brown hair in pony tails with ribbons and she is also sporting a lovely, red frock with white details.She is clad in white socks and black shoes, as any well dressed kid of times would be.She is holding large bunches of black grapes in each hand, as if to show the riches of her season.The sky behind her is blue grey, with a solitary, black bird flying.On the top left part there is the omnipresent red sun, but with a raining, white cloud under it.
The last, lovely, painted seaon of this series is winter, with a boy, trembling from the cold, holding a miniature boat in his hands, that he probably made himself. This is a reminder of the way Greek kids sang the Christmas carols in the old days, holding boats they had made.
There is a bare, brown tree behind the boy and a small, white cottage in the background with a red tiled roof. There is smoke, coming out of its chimney. It is snowing all around and the air is a blurry pink, dotted with snow flakes. Next to the tree trunk in this vivid and evocative, winter scene the artist has signed with her initials.
There is a red frame painted all over the long piece of wood, which is of a slightly irregular shape. The four seasons are also divided with the same red paint.
